Limassol Municipality in collaboration with Evagoras and Kathleen Lanitis Foundation, the Department of Antiquities and the Holy Metropolis of Limassol present the exhibition “Maniera Cypria: Lemesos, Fabula, Historia, Memoria”
Ancient findings, unearthed from Amathus, Pyrgos, Erimi, Kandou, Kourion, representative works of medieval sgraffito, glazed pottery and byzantine iconography, from the Limassol district, are set aside and converse with creations by contemporary Cypriot visual artists, which bear and further elaborate on the collective historical, mythological and hagiographical past of the place, drawing on forms and concepts of the Maniera Cypria of the past and giving rise to the Maniera Cypria of today.
The exhibition, curated by Dr. Nadia Anaxogorou, Head of Cultural Services of the Municipality of Limassol is under the auspices of the Cyprus Presidency of the European Union.
Contemoporary artists hosted in the exhibition include Angelos Makrides, Demetrakis Gerokostas, Yota Ioannidou, Elina Ioannou Kyriakos Kallis, Marianna Constanti, Lapithi Lia, Maria Loizidou, Helene Black, Lefteris Olympian, George Dark, Socrates Socrates, Lefteris tapas, Christos wretches, Nikos Charalambides, Youla Hatzigeorgiou, Savvas Christodoulides, etc.
The opening of the exhibition will be held on Friday, June 29th at 20.00 at the Evagoras Lanitis Center, Lanitis Carobmill, Limassol.
