Press release Birmingham

ETAL promotes Limassol as a cycling destination in the United Kingdom

The efforts of the Limassol Region Tourism Development and Promotion Company (ETAL) to promote cycling tourism continue with a series of actions, including participation in the National Cycling Show held in Birmingham (U.K.) on 17 & 18 June 2023.

This action was carried out within the framework of the project “CYCLING ROUTES: Souni, Zanakia, Kivides, Sotira, Erimi, Episkopi, Agios Amvrosios, Agios Therapon, Lofou and Vouni”, which is funded by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD) under the Rural Development Programme 2014–2020.

The National Cycling Show attracts thousands of cyclists from across the United Kingdom and features events, speakers, as well as exhibitions of products and services for every type and age of cyclist. With particular emphasis on electric bicycles, the exhibition hosted 140 exhibitors, showcasing bicycles, electronic equipment for cyclists, accessories, nutritional supplements, and many other items of interest to the cycling community.

ETAL participated with its own stand, where cycling tourism in the Limassol region was promoted and visitors received informative material about cycling opportunities in the area. Visitors showed great interest in the printed guides featuring the cycling routes and were able to scan a QR code to access detailed information about all routes directly on their mobile phones. In conversations with British cyclists, information was provided regarding the routes in the city and countryside, difficulty levels, terrain morphology, altitude, and the ideal period to visit Cyprus for cycling tourism. Many visitors knew Cyprus only as a sun-and-sea destination and had never considered it as a location for their cycling holidays.

Our participation in the exhibition offered an excellent opportunity to showcase Limassol as a cycling destination and to encourage visitors to include it among their future cycling trip options. Undoubtedly, the overall experience was highly constructive and contributes significantly to Limassol’s ongoing efforts to enhance and promote the region for cycling tourism.

ETAL promotes Limassol as a cycling destination in Switzerland

The Limassol Region Tourism Development and Promotion Company (ETAL) participates as the lead partner in the project “CYCLING ROUTES: Souni, Zanakia, Kivides, Sotira, Erimi, Episkopi, Agios Amvrosios, Agios Therapon, Lofou and Vouni”. The project is funded by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD) under the Rural Development Programme 2014–2020.

As part of the project and with the aim of promoting Limassol as a cycling destination, ETAL took part in the major cycling exhibition held in Zurich from 11 to 14 May 2023. The Cycle Week exhibition, organized for the 4th consecutive year, is the largest cycling event in Switzerland. It hosted 110 exhibitors and featured 120 workshops and lectures focused on promoting cycling culture.

ETAL participated with its own stand, where special interest tourism — specifically cycling tourism — was promoted. Informative material was provided regarding cycling opportunities throughout the Limassol region. During the exhibition, we engaged with numerous visitors, offering details about the cycling routes in the city and countryside, difficulty levels, terrain morphology, altitude, and the ideal time of year to visit Cyprus for cycling tourism. A large number of Swiss residents as well as tourists attended the event.

Our participation in the exhibition provided an excellent opportunity to present Limassol as a cycling destination, encouraging visitors to consider it for their future cycling adventures. Undoubtedly, the overall experience was highly constructive and contributes significantly to Limassol’s broader efforts to upgrade and promote the region for cycling tourism.
