The Cyprus Theatrical Museum offers visitors an insight into the development of theatre in Cyprus, presenting the people, productions and creative processes that have shaped the island’s theatrical tradition. The museum is organised into thematic sections that explore different aspects of theatrical life. “The History” follows the major stages in the development of theatre activity in Cyprus, while “The Contributors” focuses on the many professionals involved in bringing a theatrical production to life, from actors and directors to designers and other creative contributors. “The Performance” brings the theatrical experience to life through costumes and material associated with important and emblematic productions from the history of Cypriot theatre. Through photographs, documents, posters, costumes, objects and audiovisual material, the museum preserves the memory of Cyprus’ theatrical heritage and highlights the evolution of theatre as an important form of cultural expression on the island.
