The historic building that today houses the Deanery of the Cyprus University of Technology was constructed in 1882. It was originally built as a private residence combined with commercial premises, reflecting the traditional urban character of Limassol during the late 19th century. The building later passed into public ownership and served various administrative functions. It housed the District Administration and other government services, including the Land Registry and offices associated with the postal and administrative services, before becoming part of the historic center’s transformation through the establishment of the Cyprus University of Technology. Assigned to the University and carefully restored, the building became the Deanery of the Cyprus University of Technology in 2011. Its restoration forms part of a wider project that transformed historic buildings in central Limassol into university facilities while preserving their architectural character. The building is an excellent example of adaptive reuse, demonstrating how historic architecture can acquire a new role while remaining an integral part of the city’s identity.
