The Limassol Tourism Company is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a European project, CIVITAS DESTINATIONS on sustainable mobility. The board’s involvement in state-of-the-art European programmes such as CIVITAS enables the further upgrading of the tourist product, ensuring that Limassol as a destination remains at leading edge.
Limassol will implement a set of innovative mobility actions with an ambitious four-year plan aiming to promote sustainable modes of transportation, such as, improve the service and increase the use of public transportation, walking, cycling and increase the number of electric car rentals among tourists. These actions will be supported by launching the Tourist Mobility Card and the Green Label Award.
The Tourist Mobility Card will assist in increasing the number of tourists using sustainable mobility modes for their leisure trips by enabling them to buy one ticket for the duration of their stay, for all their public transport transfers (urban and rural) and at the same time will have access to discounted entrance to museums and other places of interest. In addition, the existence of the card will assist travellers to plan their trips based on sustainable mobility modes and will help them discover both modes and sites.
The Green Label Award will provide a distinction to hotels committed to support and promote sustainable mobility and the Tourist Mobility Card to their guests. The awarded hotels will be proud owners of the Green Label logo to use in their communication material and will demonstrate it on a crystal trophy placed on the reception desk.
