Troodos Tourism Board in cooperation with Cyprus Tourism Organizations for the fourth consecutive year the “Troodos Sports & Fun Festival”, which will be held from the 17th to 30th June.
The festival, which every year is enriched with more activities, is OPEN to all, young and older people who love adventure and outdoor activities and who want to escape from everyday’s routine.
The program for 2012’s festival includes Sports competitions and many more side activities and events. Amongst other, there will be a Cross Country Run Event, Field Archery, Mountain Bike activities and competitions, Longboard event, Exhibitions of Traditional and Sport products, Workshops on Running and Mountainbike, Games for children and other activities for the whole family. Another activity included in the program of the festival is a four-day Ecological camp for children aged 10 to 17 years. "Gravity Weekend"
On Saturday 16th and on Sunday 17th June, a Mountainbike Downhill and a MTB Enduro races will take place, followed by the Longboard race competition in Platres.
"Edurance weekend"
The weekend of 23rd and 24th June will be devoted to endurance sports like Road Cycling, Trail Run and Adventure run and Mountainbike Marthons for everyone even kids!
On the 23rd we start early morning, at 6:35, the “0 to 2000” and “1000 to 2000” cycle rides. After the end of the road race, the participants will have to time to rest and have lunch, provided by the organizers, at Troodos Square.
On the same day there will be many side events going on! There would be lectures or product presentations on running products or new cycles testing as well as, cycling workshops for beginners.
On the next day, Sunday 24th June, the Olympus trail run will start at 9:00 and at 9:15 the 3,5km Adventure run will be held. Children's running race of 800m will be held at the same times. Approximately two hours later, the Troodos MTB Marathon will start.
Party in the square!
On Saturday 16th June, there will be a party with food in Platres for all participants. On the second weekend a party will be held also on Saturday 23th June wine and cheese and nice music in Troodos Square! Don’t miss it!
Eco-Camp
From Tuesday 26 to Saturday June 30rd an Ecological "Eco-Camp" for children will be take place. During the camp the children will have the opportunity to discover Troodos Natural Park and discuss on topics regarding the natural environment and its protection. During the Eco-camp the children will have the opportunity to practice several sports, like cycling, hiking, tennis and archery! The festival is organized by Troodos Tourism Board in cooperation with MH BikinCyprus Events Management . The Mountainbike races are under the auspices of Cyprus Cycling Federation. Major Sponsor for the running races is Becel Pro.Activ and are co-organized by DRO.ME.A racing and OPAP Cyprus, under the auspices of KOEAS and the contribution of the French Embassy in Cyprus and the Ministry of Defense.
