Flamingos
Cyprus’ location is a major crossroad for many bird migration routes across the Mediterranean. Birdwatching possibilities are many, with over 365 species on the island’s list, including resident and migrant species which use the island as their stopover. The Limassol Akrotiri salt lake, Zakaki Marshes, Fassouri Reed beds and Bishop’s Pool are excellent birdwatching posts, especially during the migration period in the spring and autumn. The area is known for the flamingos and various species of ducks.
