Limassol Municipality is once again participating in European Mobility Week, taking place from 16 to 22 September 2026. Europe’s leading sustainable urban mobility initiative encourages cities and citizens to adopt safer, more sustainable and inclusive ways of getting around.
This year’s central message, “Mobility for Everyone”, focuses on making streets, public spaces and transport systems accessible to people of all ages and with different mobility needs.
Throughout the week, a series of activities will promote walking, cycling, public transport, accessibility, road safety and the sustainable use of public space.
A highlight of the programme will be Car Free Day – “Laou Laou”, taking place on Sunday, 20 September, from 10:00 to 20:00 on Gladstonos Street. Part of the street will be closed to motorised traffic and transformed into a space for walking, cycling, play, creativity and community activities.
The Cypriot expression “Laou Laou” means “slowly, gently” and invites everyone to leave the rush behind, move at a gentler pace and experience Limassol in a different way.
The central event is co-organised by Limassol Municipality, Limassol Tourism Board, Friends of the Earth Cyprus and OPU (Organisation for Positive Urbanism).
